Objectives:
Mark Tattersall Photography aims to make sustainable choices wherever possible and these factors should be the primary decision factor when reasonable to do so. Operating as an eco wedding photographer.
Premises:
Mark Tattersall Photography is based in a converted (2007) primary school. The building has an annual ‘Carbon Trust Survey’ to identify areas for carbon emission improvement. The building is fitted with motion sensor lighting and up to date energy efficient windows and doors to reduce energy waste and is shared by up to 8 individuals sharing heating and general resources.
Travel:
Mark Tattersall walks to the studio unless it is impossible to do so. Weddings and commercial commissions require the transport of equipment via a car. This car is insured with the ‘Green Insurance Co’ and yearly mileage is carbon offset through this company.
Materials:
All office materials used (paper, envelopes etc) are either made from recycled or
recyclable materials.
These materials are bought from local suppliers where possible and often collected on foot.
All packaging and waste materials are recycled where possible.
Clients are encouraged to correspond via email where possible.
Albums and Photographs:
Wedding albums used are made from recyclable materials and materials that will biodegrade. (Acrylic covered albums and products are available. Although this material is fully recyclable it is a plastic)
Supplied photographs are produced using traditional photographic methods to ensure longevity that uses chemicals that can be harmful, however the printing companies that are used by the studio must meet a basic requirement of using chlorine-free pulp and recycling all silver halide. We are currently a little behind the US in the green photograph printing department, but things are getting better all the time.
